When was the last time you laughed so hard you nearly wet yourself? When was the last time you played without guilt that you “should” be doing something productive?…and no, working out does not count.
I understand the definition of play: “to engage in activity for enjoyment and recreation rather than a serious or practical purpose.”
I do believe there was a time when I participated in play. Now it feels like a flicker of a memory. Not something recent, let alone a common ritual. What changed?
I’ve always been a bit of a serious personality. Yet play was still a part of my world once. And now it is as if I have made a pact with myself that being playful is like being on a wild-goose chase and, as long as there is work to be done, it is not a priority.
Sound familiar?
I have had a new insight I want to share with you…
What if playfulness brought more productivity? What if play fed your soul, making all of life easier? What if spending a little bit of time on yourself could bring light-hearted play back? What if playfulness brought in joy?
What are you waiting for?
